Are you taking part in Active Wellbeing during May? Then why not join us for a walk to help you get some extra steps in!
The Whangie is a dramatic rock formation nestled in the Kilpatrick Hills. This beginner friendly walk isn’t too difficult, with beautiful views over local countryside and a stunning view of Loch Lomond from the top. Located roughly 25 minutes from the eastern side of Loch Lomond and 30 minutes from Glasgow, The Whangie is a natural rock formation standing at an impressive 10m tall and is roughly 100m long. You can walk right through the chasm in the rocks from one end to the other, surrounded by the steep sides of the rock face.
Depending on speed, the route should take no more than 1.5 to 2h long and follows a path for the entire circular route.
We look forward to seeing you there :)
Route Information
This route can only be reached by car. If you do not have access to a car, we can provide a limited number of lifts from Glasgow City Centre. Please get in touch with the organiser if you require a lift.
We will meet at the Queensview car park on the A811 between Carbeth and Croftamie, at 3pm on the 23rd May
From the car park, the first part of the path is wide and grassy, and can feel quite steep but it doesn’t last long.
The path eventually narrows and becomes a well worn, sometimes rocky, and at times rather muddy trail that meanders at a gentle gradient up the side of Auchineden Hill.
