This is a King's Theatre Community Performance
Join us in a world of pure imagination as Roald Dahl’s beloved tale is brought to life on The Kings Theatre stage.
Charlie Bucket is one of five lucky golden ticket winners given the opportunity tour the mysterious chocolate factory owned by the eccentric Willy Wonka. Charlie and the other winners soon learn that nothing is quite as sweet as it seems behind the factory doors.
This delicious tale is brought to you from the producers and creative team behind Kings Theatre hits Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Little Shop of Horrors and of course, The Pompey Panto.
By special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). Based on the famous novel by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features an original score composed by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and a book by David Greig. The score also pays homage to the Leslie Bricusse/Anthony Newley score from the 1971 film with songs from the motion picture including “Candy Man,” “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” “Oompa Loompa Song,” and “Pure Imagination.”
