The Cotswold Area Golf Society has been running since the mid 1960's and aims to provide social and competitve golf for our members. We have a long history of visiting some of the region's most prestigious courses at very reasonable rates for CSSC members. We offer a variety of ways to get involved which are all detailed below.

We're always welcoming in new members, so if you're interested please see the "booking information"

Annual membership costs

£6, with entry fees of £3 for each of the singles and doubles knockout competitions.

A discretionary one-off payment of £1 for the hole-in-one club is also available, and pays out to the lucky winner if a hole-in-one is achieved on a Society day. Members who have recently signed up to this will continue to be part of the club for 2023 and do not need to pay again.

Days out

The highlights of the season are the 3 society days out. We visit some fantastic courses normally within 1hr of Cheltenham. Recent courses played include The Rolls of Monmouth, Kings Norton and Burford. The typical format is:

  • Arrive for breakfast
  • Morning 9 hole team competition
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon 18 hole individual competition
  • Dinner

The society benefits from being able to negotiate some extremely good deals, subsidised with support from CSSC.

Knockout competitions

The society organises optional singles and doubles knockout competitions where members can play against each other, at local courses. The deadline for entries is 31st March.

Matches

We aim to arrange team matches against local societies, including Gloucestershire Police and Smiths, despite covid making this more challenging. Selection is based on availability, and generally if you are available you will get a game!

Handicaps

The society is committed to ensuring fair and competitive events, and we welcome golfers of all standards. To qualify for prizes on days out, or to enter the matches or knockout competitions, members must have a valid handicap. This can either be a valid and current WHS handicap index, or a society handicap can be obtained by handing in three cards to the committee.
