CSSC Awards
Every year we recognise the hard work, dedication and commitment of our members and volunteers with the CSSC Awards.
Those who demonstrate particular strength and service to CSSC and their fellow members are nominated by their peers and chosen by the CSSC leadership team to join the shortlist in each award category. Winners of each category are treated to an awards ceremony where they are presented with awards, plaques, certificates or trophies in recognition of their service.
Award Criteria

The Hayward Trophy
Every year since 1992, the Hayward Trophy has been awarded to the national sports association or national sports organiser that has achieved the most for its activity and membership in that year.

The Wellbeing Award
For members, volunteers, volunteer groups, affiliated bodies, and workplace associations who have promoted, developed or introduced a wellbeing initiative, benefiting and adding value to CSSC membership.

The Russell Scott Award
An early ambition of our founders was to realise CSSC Area Associations in towns and cities across the UK. In 1934 Sir Russell Scott KCB, whose involvement dated back to the early days of CSSC, presented this award to be given to the area association with the best all-round record in a particular year.

The Lord Turnbull Award (Volunteer of the Year)
Former CSSC Chairman Lord Turnbull KCB CVO donated and first presented the award in 2007. The award recognises the CSSC volunteer who has made the most outstanding contribution to CSSC in a single year.

The Newcomer Award
A brand-new award for 2023 to recognise the achievements of new volunteers who have made a significant impact on the organisation and how members and volunteers engage with CSSC.

The Innovation Award
The Innovation Award is presented to an association, club or individual volunteer that has introduced a new project or initiative which has had a substantial and positive impact on either CSSC or our members.

The Sportsperson Award
The Sportsperson Award was introduced in 2015 to recognise a member who has made a significant impact on CSSC activity and sport, either as a player or a volunteer in one particular year, or over a number of years.

The Merit Award
Introduced by former CSSC Chairman, Sir Richard Hayward CBE, in 1978 to recognise CSSC volunteers who have shown highly meritorious service over a sustained period of time and made a significant impact in one or more areas.
