CSSC members learned about Nature Unlocked, a major research project aimed at gathering high-quality scientific evidence on the value of UK biodiversity and how scientists at Wakehurst are helping unearth the role of fungi in our ecosystems.
The day began with an introduction to Wakehurst, followed by a stroll through the beautiful autumnal woodlands, where members had the chance to spot various fungi. Our knowledgeable Wakehurst guide provided fascinating insights, explaining where fungi are most likely to grow, the benefits of their unique shapes, sizes, and colours, and even sharing what some of them taste like!
