CSSC member Kew volunteering day
At the start of the year, Kew provided an incredible opportunity for a group of CSSC members to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of Kew Gardens, playing a crucial role in the lead-up to their highly anticipated 2025 Orchid Festival!
The day began with an engaging and hands-on activity: crafting delicate mini orchid Kokedama. Volunteers learned the intricate art of carefully wrapping the orchids' root balls in lush moss, transforming them into stunning, suspended spheres of natural beauty.
CSSC was thrilled to host our Patron, HRH The Duchess of Gloucester, who graciously visited the volunteers to witness their incredible work and dedication firsthand.
After lunch, the team moved into the breathtaking Princess of Wales Conservatory, the home of the festival's stunning centrepiece. Here, they put their creative skills to work, expertly weaving a tapestry of vibrant foliage that will undoubtedly captivate visitors.
This special volunteering day not only offered a unique opportunity to contribute to a world-renowned horticultural event but also fostered camaraderie and a shared passion for the beauty of nature. We are grateful for our partnership and opportunities to volunteer with Kew and we look forward to our next Volunteering day in the gardens.
