What is local volunteering?
Our local volunteers are the beating heart of CSSC. They make everything we do possible by turning great ideas into fantastic trips, adventures and events for our members and their families.
Each role is unique, so whatever your skill, hobby or passion, there’s a home and a community for you.

Area Association Volunteer
CSSC has more than 30 Area Associations across the UK, each led by a volunteer committee. These committees organise a programme of local events, activities and offers, helping to create vibrant communities for CSSC members in their area.
This role is ideal if you're looking for a hands-on volunteering experience, want to build strong social connections, and are interested in developing practical skills through helping to run a volunteer-led association.

I’ve been an Area volunteer for Telford & District for over 10 years now and I love it. Meeting all our local members and taking part in all the activities and trips that we arrange is a real highlight. This year I won the Lord Turnball Award for Volunteer of the Year.

Do you have a hobby or interest you'd like to share with others? As a Local Events Organiser, you can bring your ideas to life by planning activities, experiences and trips for CSSC members in your area.
This flexible volunteering role is ideal for anyone who enjoys organising fun experiences and bringing people together. You'll be supported by the CSSC Volunteer Support Team every step of the way.

CSSC Walk leader
Enjoy walking and helping others get active? CSSC's bespoke Walk Leader training will give you the skills and confidence to plan and lead walks for members in your local area. From lunchtime city walks to countryside hikes, you'll help create fun and accessible experiences for others.

I've been an active walk leader in the South East of England for about 6 months. Arranging walks in my local area near Deal in Kent. I love being involved with CSSC and have had the pleasure of meeting fantastic people who are equally passionate. I have already met new friends that have accompanied me on my walks, I couldn’t recommend it more.
