Why not use one of your volunteering days at our exclusive CSSC volunteering event at Five Sisters Zoo!
Five Sisters Zoo is a family-run zoo with over 160 species, including Scotland's only Cheetah and rescued brown bears.
Volunteers programmes with FSZ play a huge role in helping to connect people with nature and protect threatened species in Scotland and around the world.
Volunteering activities may include painting, landscaping, and cleaning enclosures - we will find out on the day. You will have the chance to explore the zoo when we finish our volunteering duties.
Arrival time and Induction
Please arrive by 9.15 am for a 9.30 am induction by a member of the Zoo team which covers orientation to the Zoo and health and safety issues etc.
Please meet in the Café which is on the right as you enter the Zoo.
Car Parking: We ask volunteers park in the overflow car park to allow school coaches to turn in the main car park.
What to bring
LUNCH - You are most welcome to bring a picnic as there are lots of areas in the main part of the Zoo where you can eat. Volunteers can also enjoy a 10% discount at our cafe if you let staff know that you are a corporate volunteer
DRESS: Please wear old clothes – nothing that you don’t mind getting dirty or splattered with paint! It’s a good idea to have a waterproof or warm jacket as most of the tasks are outdoors. Please ensure you wear sturdy shoes/work boots as some of the surfaces are uneven. A pair of work/gardening gloves are also necessary.
Important Information
Injuries/allergies: as the majority of work is physically demanding we ask you to carefully consider what you are able to do and also that, as a working Zoo, there is a huge amount of food at close proximity including nuts, in case anyone has allergies. Please inform us if you have any allergies, injuries or are pregnant when booking
Hygiene: please consider personal hygiene and, if working in or around the animal enclosures, you should use the sinks and supplied soap and water at regular intervals, especially before food. Please note hand sanitizer is also available.
