Why play bowls?
Playing bowls is accessible to everyone. Regardless of your build or background, it’s a sport for all and a great way to improve both physical fitness and mental wellbeing.
Bowls is an affordable sport to get into. You don’t need lots of specialist equipment to start, and many clubs offer free taster sessions. Even once you’re hooked, a set of bowls and club membership can cost as little as £90.
After football, bowls has the second highest number of clubs in the country. With so many venues available, you’re likely to find a club close to home with ease.
Unlike many sports, age and gender have far less impact on performance in bowls, making it an ideal activity for enjoying fair, friendly competition with family and friends.
Bowls clubs are welcoming, social spaces filled with people who enjoy the game and good company. It’s a fantastic way to relax, meet new people, and feel part of your local community.
