I have acted as the Winter Sports organiser for Ski trips for the last few years, but I have arranged around 100 Ski trips for groups of friends for over 30+ years. I am also a very committed skier, and I use my knowledge and experience of very many trips to take groups of CSSC members from all over the UK to destinations in the alps. It is important to have first-hand knowledge for a high-risk event and to be in situ during the event to do the very best to represent the CSSC and ensure everyone is suitably and happily accommodated with the maximum amount of enjoyment.
CSSC HQ facilitate the ski trips via their in-house Sport and Physical Activity Team who are very patient and accommodating to exacting demands. The success of the ski trips must surely be seen by the fact that it runs year after year, and along the way attracts new additions - across all abilities, to the event, including new members as well as regulars who have formed strong friendships with people they would otherwise never come into contact with.
The last ski trip to Tignes in January was really enjoyable and a summary is posted on the CSSC website for all members to see.
The next ski trip will be to Cervinia, Italy in January 2027, which also has access to the Zermatt area of Switzerland, and we are very much looking forward to it.
Volunteering may appear to be a chore, but when you reach the end of a very successful week, you will feel inspired and motivated to set the next event in motion."
