Your Guide to Summer Savings :

With Summer in full swing and the school holidays just around the corner, our top ten things to do with CSSC is your handy go-to guide to make summer go further.

“I’m Bored.” It’s too HOT!” “There’s nothing to do.” “All my friends are busy.” Nothing heralds the start of school summer holidays like that toe-curling whine from lethargic youth, and even from the odd, uninspired grown-up.

With six weeks of, weather-dependent time to fill, the school summer holidays can feel more like a chore than an exciting opportunity. Add in higher living costs of fuel, food, accommodation and entertainment into the mix and you’d be forgiven for wishing summer away and looking forward to the start of September’s term.

But, before you start purchasing school supplies and measuring up for new uniforms, check out our series of posts over the next few weeks, highlighting our ‘top ten things to do’ to help make your summer go further with CSSC.

1. Explore a heritage site for free

With over 400 English Heritage (EH) sites and another 100 Cadw sites to visit across England and Wales with your CSSC membership, there are free days out to be had in every corner of the country.

Now, while ‘dusty old castles’ and ‘crumbling abbeys’ might be a hard sell for some family members, they actually make a brilliant day out.

Both EH and Cadw do an amazing job of bringing history to life in a captivating way, through stories, events, games and tours. Injecting wonder, intrigue and magic into educational visits, supporting their school work. Plus, the 10% off at gift shops may help induce those who need an added incentive.

2. Visit a stately home and garden

The UK rightly boasts some of the most awe-inspiring stately homes in the world. We are lucky to be able to visit such iconic monuments to British history, design and innovation and as CSSC members, we are even more lucky to be able to explore these stunning time capsules, for less.

Our newest partner, offering great value entry is Chatsworth House, the perfect example of a stately home and stunning gardens. Just down the road from another great house in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside is Hardwick Hall.

If historic houses are ‘your thing’, did you know you can save 10% on an annual membership to explore hundreds of the UK’s most beautiful houses, castles and gardens? And if you’re looking for more this summer, visit our ‘historic sites‘ page to find tours, trips and discounted entry.

3. Theme parks and adventure lands

Given that summer holidays really are for kids, it’s only right we speed things up a little by introducing our theme parks and adventure lands.

We know that fast rides and scary attractions are not for everyone. But thanks to ongoing improvements and family-friendly innovations, modern UK theme parks offer much more than rollercoasters and fairground rides. Many parks include zoos and farms, some offer beaches and waterparks, while others focus on creativity through interactivity and live shows.

From the world-famous resorts to the local parks, chances are if there’s a theme park you’d like to visit, we can save you a bundle on the gate prices. Visit our ‘theme parks’ page to explore our offers.

Look out for next week’s summer post, with loads of great ideas for entertaining the family, while avoiding the showers.
