Inclusivity Spotlight:
At CSSC, we believe sport should be for everyone— and that belief sits at the heart of our work with Boccia England.
Last September 2025, I had a great conversation with Stacey, the Partnerships and Engagement Manager at Boccia England. We explored opportunities to make Boccia more accessible across the CSSC community. A few months on from those early discussions, we are proud to be hosting our first joint CSSC and Boccia England event.
This marks an exciting step forward in our shared commitment to improving access to inclusive sports, wellbeing and participation for disabled people. At CSSC, we believe sport should be for everyone — and that belief sits at the heart of our work with Boccia England.
Boccia is a highly inclusive Paralympic sport designed for people with physical disabilities that impact motor control. It is accessible, strategic and social For many participants, it offers a rare opportunity to take part in competitive sport in a supportive environment. Unlike many other Paralympic sports, people with disabilities can play along side able bodied friends and colleagues, making Boccia fully inclusive, welcoming and great fun.

Boccia England, as the national governing body, plays a vital role in growing the sport across England. From community participation through to elite performance pathways. Their work focuses on removing barriers, empowering less able-bodied people, and building confidence and collaboration through sport.
By working alongside Boccia England, CSSC is helping to:

- Raise awareness of Boccia across the civil service and public sector.
- Create inclusive opportunities that support wellbeing and belonging.
- Encourage colleagues to engage with para-sports as players, volunteers or supporters.
This collaboration aligns closely with our ED&I priorities and our wider commitment to improving health and wellbeing through inclusive activity. It’s about more than sport — it’s about representation, access and ensuring everyone feels welcome.
We’re proud to support Boccia and look forward to continuing this journey together and hosting more events.
This first event, with the support of Michael- our Sports Development Officer in our new North West Hub, represents the beginning of what we hope will be a growing collaboration. I look forward to building on this momentum and exploring future Boccia events and opportunities together, helping to break down barriers and ensure everyone has the chance to get involved in sport in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
