A Memorable Summer with My Children: Cinema, Waddesdon Manor, Bowling, and More!

This summer has been a whirlwind of fun, laughter, and precious moments spent with my family. With the warm sun shining down and longer days offering more time for adventures, we made the most of every opportunity to create some memories.

Movie Magic: A Day at the Cinema

One of the highlights of our summer was our regular trips to the cinema. There’s something so special about sharing a bucket of popcorn, sitting back, and watching on the big screen until the fire alarm goes off course!

Exploring History and Nature at Waddesdon Manor

We made a visit to the stunning Waddesdon Manor, in the Buckinghamshire countryside, this beautiful estate was the perfect spot for a day out with the family. The kids were fascinated by the manor itself, with its elaborate architecture and rich history. But it wasn’t just about the building – the gardens were a real treat too. We wandered through the beautifully landscaped grounds, had lunch overlooking the vast fields and enjoyed some apple picking from the trees. The aviary, filled with exotic birds, was a particular favourite for the children The Owl. There have also been several Bollywood movies filmed at the location one of which I had to reenact as the kids looked on embarrassingly.

Strikes and Laughter: A Fun Day Bowling

Bowling quickly became one of our go-to summer activities with family and friends using to my advantage the offers from my CSSC membership. The kids absolutely loved the friendly competition.  Even better, after the game, we grabbed a bite to eat at the nearby diner, keeping the fun going.

London Adventures: Exploring the City

No summer would be complete without a trip to London, and this year was no exception. From the iconic landmarks to the hidden gems of the city, our day in London was packed with adventure. We visited Paddington World and London Eye which was the highlight. Afterward, we wandered through Knightsbridge stopping off for our favourite chocolate doughnuts watching street performers and indulging in some delicious treats was quite enjoyable.

Enjoying Nature Close to Home/Giving Back

We also made time for more relaxed days, enjoying simple walks close to home at Hughenden Park.  These walks became an important part of our summer routine. The kids loved spotting wildlife and collecting treasures like leaves and stones along the way. These moments were a reminder that sometimes, the simplest activities can be the most special. It gave us time to slow down, talk, and enjoy each other’s company without distractions. I believe it is important to learn about our surroundings and the people we meet and how we can help others. Over the holidays the children wanted to do their part for charity, so we had a good clear out of toys, books and other items and gave these to charity including sending their pocket money to some of their chosen charities.
